THROUGH OUT THIS PROJECT WE USED A LOT OF MEDIUMS LIKE CHARCOAL,DRY PASTELS,WATER COLOURS,OIL PASTELS AND EVEN PAPER.

WATER COLOURS

DRY PASTELS

Characteristics of dry pastels

Dry pastels are in cuboidal shape , packed with the pigment, they are used directly on the paper.

Characteristics of water colours

Water colour on the other hand come in the form of tubes or cakes, we need water to work with these colours.

Advantaged of dry pastels

1) blendable

2)does not require any other tools for application

3)easy. to use

4) easy to erase

Disadvantages of dry pastels

1) they require a fixative spary to fix them

2)there is a lot of fall out

3)layering is difficult

Advantages of water colours

1)better control

2)easy to manage

Disadvantage of water colours

  • time consuming

  • Requires additional tools like brushes , water and rags

  • Can sometimes eat through the paper if u add too much water

Which medium was more effective in creating the desired results, and why?

For me watercolours worked way better than pastels. I struggled a lot with pastels as It was my first time using the medium. I was comfortable with water colour, it was easy to work and fixing mistakes was easier.

My preferred medium

For me watercolour worked well and was really comfortable to use. I had more command over the brush. I was able to create right shades easily, the end result is more realistic than other mediums.

Gunika, your Learner's Log has not been initiated as yet... In fact it seems that you have not been using your blog for other projects as well as...

Please note that the Blog, including the Learner's Journey Log forms part of the Log-Book for each module and is critical to your learning as it evidences your process and helps bring together the learning gained in the project through reflective thinking. A delay in writing the Log after a long gap of completing the project, dilutes the purpose and benefit.

I hope to see your work updated before the end-term FA submission.

Please remember, the purpose of the LJL is to dive a bit deeper into our experience and extract some…
